Wordless Wednesday

or at least Less-Words Wednesday . . .

On Makenna's day off from school, the kids made Indian "hats". Each one said "Indian Makenna", "Indian Madison" and "Indian Isaiah."

The kids made this sign. What is funny about it is that it's hung on the inside of the pantry door AND it's colored with glow in the dark crayons. That way, when Bubby shuts the door on you (obviously that happens frequently), you can still see it.

Because Daddy's working so much, we've been trying to spend as much time as we can with him. And since Daddy likes naps, this is sometimes what we get . . .

While Mommy & Daddy were out of town, Nana took the girls to see a musical of Esther. Of course, Isaiah couldn't be left out of the picture.

The girls were amazed -- Nana said Madi even clapped when the Jews were freed! You can imagine how excited they were when they had the opportunity to MEET QUEEN ESTHER afterwards and get her autograph!

Through some fellow homeschoolers we were told we could watch the dress rehearsal of the musical, Willy Wonka at a local highschool for free. After the great experience the girls had seeing Esther, we decided to go.

The girls really enjoyed it. We've since had to watch the televised version since they hadn't seen it. Even Isaiah has gotten into Willy Wonka -- he asks to watch "won-CKa" and tries to sing the Oompa Loompa song.

Last weekend, we traveled to Cincinnati (along with many other family members pictured here) to witness the adoption finalization for Evan Michael Lott -- cousin Brian & Niki's son.

Here's "baby Evan" as the kids call him. We so proud to have him as an official part of the family.

Bubby sure loves his Pappy. He was tagging along with Pappy at the hotel in Cincy.

On our travels, we stopped at Steak 'n Shake. The kids enjoyed the hats and buildable car.

We drove through Cleveland on our way home. Papaw took the kids to the world's largest candy store. Makenna wasn't impressed with the candied bugs.

Hoping . . .

. . . maybe tonight while Daddy is working late I'll get a chance to post an "everything but the kitchen sink" post . . .

UPDATE: Not looking good, folks! Daddy worked late but not really late and I didn't get my kitchen work done in time to post. Tonight, Mommy gets to go out with "Aunt" Niki to a Taste of Home cooking class. Wednesday is piano lessons and church while Daddy works late. Thursday we leave for CINCINNATI to go to Baby Evan's (as the kids like to say) final adoption hearing on Friday!! Swinging by Cleveland to visit Papaw and Gramma on the way home. Then church Sunday and the whole mad cycle starts again. Oh well, some day . . . maybe . . .

A Little Get-Away

Tomorrow, Rick & I are going out of town for a couple days. We're thankful to have the opportunity and will definitely make the best of it. We may sleep the whole time we're away -- just kidding, sorta. Rick's been working overtime since the beginning of January and with everyone being sick and up at night, we're all a little sleep deprived. I think we're both looking forward to spending time together and relaxing.

Hopefully the kids won't get too spoiled [staying with Nana & Pappy] while we are gone. I'm sure they'll have a blast -- the girls will be going to a musical of Esther with Nana on Friday. (Shhh! It's a surprise for the girls.) Zaya will be thrilled just to be hanging out with his Pappy.

Matter of Prayer

UPDATE: We survived the doctor's office. I didn't get a chance to talk to the recptionist like I had hoped before she blurted out "You are here for Makenna Lott." It was all over after that. Makenna just kept saying, "No, no!" Once we got past the hard things, you know, like getting weighed!! she was okay. I did most of the talking in the beginning. That must have given her enough time to settle down. She did have to sit on the exam table while the doctor felt her belly and we were done! I talked to Makenna afterwards about how bad that wasn't! She agreed so hopfully the next time will get even easier.

She has been put on a Zantac-type medication for 2 weeks, and I have to keep a food diary of what she eats. We'll see how she does after that before making any more decisions. Madison is getting or getting over an ear infection. Praying she inproves quickly as Daddy & I are heading out of town tomorrow.

I took this picture last week when Isaiah was sick. He loves his big sister!

This week it's Makenna that needs the prayer (and maybe me)! She has been having some stomach discomfort, and I will be taking her to the doctor's office tomorrow at 8:00 am. She doesn't know that, and I'm probably not going to inform her until she wakes up in the morning. SHE HATES GOING TO THE DOCTOR! Not that she doesn't like the doctor personally. She had a traumatic experience with a dental hygentist when she was 3 and she hasn't been the same since. She usually ends up crawling under the exam table until it's time for the doctor to examine her. Then she cries and tries to avoid the doctor. Yes, I know she's 8 and that's odd behavior, but I don't know whatelse to do.

So if you think about it, pray for us as we'll be battling it out at the doctor's office tomorrow. My diagnosis is stress ulcers (speaking from experience) but she's pretty young for that. Hopefully they can diagnose the problem without further testing and fix with simple meds (because we all know that further testing would be more difficult to handle -- if you don't remember the traumatic trip to the ER, click here).

I'll update this post with whatever information I get tomorrow althought it may be a while as I have to drive her to school after the appointment.

Thanks in advance for your prayers. I know it's not that big of a deal compared to the difficulties others face. However, I know it will be a big deal for one little girl tomorrow!

PS: Add Madison to your prayers, as I'm sure she has an ear infection. It's going to be a long appointment since her ear needs cleaned out!
