Field Trip -- Emmett's Orchard

Last week, Makenna's class had a field trip. They go to school about 30 minutes south of us, and the orchard is about 10 minutes north of us. Thinking Isaiah would have a great time, I signed us up to join Makenna's class.

Zaya's not so fond of ducks apparently.

However, he wanted to walk right up to these horses and almost got so close as to pet and feed them. He's usually afraid of big animals. I'm thinking they are usually dark colored horses, so maybe the lighter color made the difference?? He was thrilled to tell Dad when we got home that he gave the horses grass (long weeds) to eat.

Have I mentioned that fall is my favorite time of year? Mostly for the decorations, colors and food. Not a fan of the weather getting cooler only because it means winter is on it's way.

Of course, Isaiah found a Ractee! Maybe someday we'll stumble across one for him to play with at home.

It's That Time Of Year

Since I didn't grow up a fan of professional sports, I'm surprised I'm even saying this, but I couldn't wait for NFL to start this year. We cancelled cable for a while but couldn't make it through football season without it. Rick says we'll cancel it after the Super Bowl. =)

Needless to say, I was excited a couple weeks ago when Rick & I had tickets to go to a Steelers game!

Somehow 71 degrees seemed a lot warmer in the sun in the 'burgh.

Don't think I'll ever get a good picture of the sea of Terrible Towels waving, but it's one of my favorite parts of being at a game.

And my post wouldn't be complete without a shot of my new argyle Steeler socks!

Golden Dragon Acrobats

One of our local universities hosted the Golden Dragon Acrobats Friday night. We asked around and were able to get enough people to get in on a group rate. The girls had a blast! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and had a great time. So glad Aunt Mel & Uncle Josh could come with us too. The girls are already asking to back next year!

The best way to describe the Golden Dragon Acrobats is AWESOME!! No cameras were allowed inside. These photos are from their website. There were a couple acts that we saw that aren't pictured. SO glad they didn't have the little girl acrobats on the website -- their act was almost grotesque -- they were sitting on their own heads they were bent over backwards so far!!

Think there were 10 people on this bike . . .

This guy was insane!! This is where Nana was wishing she had taken her blood pressure meds. Ha! He was so high he couldn't complete his moves because the ceiling was too low!!

The only thing I can say about this girl is -- 360 degree hips! Not to mention those are all individual cups with water in them!

Now for my favorite two acts . . .

I'm a sucker for tumbling and jumps, and these guys could do just that and well!

Guess I liked this act because I felt there was a SLIGHT chance I could do this (on a small scale). This is definitely something to try if you have a hyper child. Will definitely wear them out!
Of course all the adrenalin from the show spilled over into the parking lot as we left the auditorium. Everyone had to try a "bendy" move! I couldn't catch everyone doing something at the same time. Poor Aunt Mel was holding this pose forever!

Things haven't exactly gone like I thought they would. Isaiah has become clingy and more needy since the girls have gone to school. I'm praying he adjusts more as time goes on because this Momma wants to get some projects done!!

Knowing I'd want to spend a little one-on-one time with him, I bought an activity book (which he affectionately calls his school work book). We've been doing a few pages each day. He's usually begging me to do his school work -- "Mommy, we go do skoowork my deckx?" I eventually plan to starts him on educational things like recognizing and writing his letters and numbers.

Here he is, happy as a lark, doing his skoowork (with a mint in his mouth).
